A villa garden can be a simple planted retreat or a complete outdoor living space with a pool, shaded dining and architectural lighting. Those are very different construction projects—and their budgets should reflect that.
For initial planning, a softscape refresh may fall around AED 20,000–60,000, while a more extensive garden combining paving, planting, irrigation and lighting may require AED 80,000–220,000. A luxury transformation with a new pool, pergola and premium finishes can require AED 250,000–600,000 or more.
These are broad budgeting guides, not fixed packages. The most useful answer to “villa landscaping cost Dubai” starts with your usable garden area, existing conditions and the features you want included.
Villa Landscaping Cost Dubai: Price Breakdown
Measure the area being landscaped rather than your entire villa plot. A 600 m² property does not necessarily have 600 m² of garden available for construction.
| Work category | Indicative budget | What to clarify |
|---|---|---|
| Softscape installation | AED 60–250/m² | Soil preparation, planting density, lawn, mulch and plant sizes |
| Paving and hardscape | AED 200–650/m² | Materials, excavation, base preparation, edging and installation |
| Softscape refresh | AED 20,000–60,000/project | Planted area, retained features and irrigation adjustments |
| Mixed garden renovation | AED 80,000–220,000/project | Paving, planting, irrigation and lighting; pool priced separately |
| Full luxury transformation | AED 250,000–600,000+/project | Defined pool, pergola, landscape and lighting specifications |
The luxury range is a planning allowance assembled from published garden and feature prices, rather than a standard turnkey package. Large pools, extensive structural work and specialist finishes can exceed it.
Per-square-metre rates apply to the relevant work area. Do not multiply the softscape and paving rates by the whole garden and add them together: planting beds and terraces occupy different areas.
Likewise, confirm whether irrigation, lighting or design already appears inside a package before adding separate allowances.
What Changes Your Landscaping Quotation?
Natural stone versus porcelain tiles
Natural stone offers variation in texture and colour, but the installed price depends on the stone, thickness, finish, cutting and preparation. Some specifications also require sealing and a particular maintenance routine.
Outdoor porcelain can provide a consistent appearance, but premium porcelain is not automatically cheaper than stone. Large slabs, intricate cuts, steps and demanding installation details can increase labour and wastage.
Compare complete installed specifications. Ask about the substrate, bedding system, movement joints, drainage falls and suitability around wet areas. View samples outdoors: appearance, surface temperature and slip performance matter as much as the showroom finish.
Irrigation complexity
A garden with one compact planting bed needs a different system from a property with lawn, trees, raised planters and several exposure conditions.
Watering zones, pipe routes, available pressure, controls and access to the water source affect the installation cost. Published contractor allowances for full automated systems can reach AED 15,000–45,000, with specialist controls potentially additional.
An existing system may be reusable, partly repairable or unsuitable for the new layout. Establish that before finalising the quotation.
Plant types, sizes and maturity
Planting budgets should identify species, quantities and supply sizes. “Supply trees and shrubs” is too vague for a meaningful comparison.
Mature specimens offer immediate structure but cost more to source, transport, position and establish. Smaller plants may reduce initial expenditure if you are comfortable allowing the garden to develop.
A balanced scheme can use selected feature trees alongside younger planting. Choose plants around sunlight, soil, root space and maintenance expectations—not appearance alone.
Access and existing conditions
Narrow side passages can restrict machinery and increase manual handling. Removing old concrete, protecting retained trees and moving materials through an occupied property also affect labour.
Two gardens with similar dimensions may therefore receive different quotations even when their visible finishes look alike.
Example Budget: A 300 m² Villa Garden
Consider a hypothetical garden with 120 m² of paving and 180 m² of softscape, plus irrigation, lighting and a pergola.
The following is an illustrative calculation using selected allowances within published pricing bands. It is not a completed Desert Dreams project or a quotation.
| Element | Assumed allowance |
|---|---|
| Paving: 120 m² × AED 350 | AED 42,000 |
| Softscape: 180 m² × AED 120 | AED 21,600 |
| Automated irrigation | AED 18,000 |
| Outdoor lighting | AED 15,000 |
| Pergola | AED 25,000 |
| Illustrative subtotal | AED 121,600 |
This example excludes a swimming pool, design fees, approvals, demolition, major drainage corrections, utility upgrades, contingency and applicable VAT. Each allowance assumes those items have not already been included elsewhere.
Adding a pool requires its own specification and quotation. Pool dimensions, structure, waterproofing, filtration, heating or cooling, equipment access and surrounding finishes all change the figure. A modest garden rate cannot reliably price those elements.
Hidden Landscaping Costs to Check Before Signing
Master developer and community approvals
Community requirements can influence the permitted layout, shade structures, pool works and contractor access.
For example, Emaar’s Arabian Ranches guidance requires a Home Modifications NOC for pergolas and swimming pool renovations. Do not assume the same application category, documentation or fees applies across every Dubai community.
Ask who prepares drawings, submits applications and answers technical comments. Separate application fees, consultant charges and refundable deposits. Establish the conditions for recovering any deposit rather than treating it as a permanent construction expense.
Dubai Municipality and other authority permits
Community consent and statutory approval are separate matters.
Dubai Municipality provides an approval service for public and private swimming pool drawings. The competent authority and permit route must nevertheless be confirmed for your specific plot and proposed works.
A quotation should identify the approvals included, who is responsible for them and whether engineering or specialist consultant fees are additional. Avoid relying on a generic “permits included” statement without an accompanying scope.
DEWA connection fees and capacity changes
A new DEWA connection fee is not an automatic charge for every landscaping renovation.
For an occupied villa, the first question is whether existing electrical and water services can support the proposed equipment and irrigation. A new connection, demand increase or network modification may require a separate application.
DEWA states that water connection charges depend on demand, materials, authority approvals and site conditions. Application registration is free, but connection work is assessed separately.
Ask the relevant enrolled contractor or consultant to identify any required utility work. Distinguish external connection charges from internal cables, pipes, distribution equipment and ongoing consumption.
Drainage, levels and ground preparation
An attractive terrace still needs somewhere for water to go.
Existing levels, thresholds, soil conditions and drainage routes should be investigated before finishes are ordered. Corrective works may include regrading, drainage channels, suitable pipework or changes to the paving build-up.
Pool excavation can introduce further site-specific considerations. Request a clear allowance or stated exclusion for unresolved ground conditions rather than assuming every underground issue is covered.
Demolition, disposal and reinstatement
Check whether the price includes removing existing paving, unsuitable soil, unwanted structures and waste. Clarify protection of the villa and any reinstatement needed after machinery access.
Also ask whether VAT is included, what happens when a specified material is unavailable, and how variations will be approved.
Agree a contingency appropriate to the remaining uncertainty. It should be visible in your budget rather than hidden inside an unexplained lump sum.
How Long Does Villa Landscaping Take in Dubai?
A useful programme separates design, approvals and procurement from construction.
For early discussions, the following are provisional scheduling allowances—not guaranteed industry averages or Desert Dreams commitments:
| Project scope | Initial on-site planning allowance |
|---|---|
| Limited planting and irrigation refresh | Approximately 1–3 weeks |
| Mixed garden renovation without a new pool | Approximately 4–8 weeks |
| Integrated pool, pergola and landscape project | Approximately 8–16+ weeks |
Design development, approvals and long-lead materials come before or overlap these stages. A complex project can take several months from initial consultation to handover.
Ask for milestones covering preparation, underground services, structures, finishes, planting and testing. Pool construction also needs appropriate curing, waterproofing and commissioning stages.
Avoid booking a major garden event against an unconfirmed completion date.
How to Compare Villa Landscaping Quotations
Compare contractors against the same drawing and specifications. Otherwise, the cheapest total may simply contain fewer works.
Look for measured quantities, named finishes, plant sizes, irrigation components and clearly defined pool or pergola packages. Confirm exclusions, payment milestones, warranty terms and responsibility for variations.
Ask what handover includes: irrigation settings, equipment instructions, maintenance access and care for new planting.
Consider ongoing ownership costs too. Lawn care, pruning, irrigation repairs, pool servicing and electricity or water consumption remain relevant after construction.
If you need to phase the project, plan future service routes before the first terrace is completed. That can help avoid disturbing finished work when the next feature is added.
